Well with the craziness of school finally coming to an end in the next month, I've been wisely using any free time I have to SLOWLY redecorate our bedroom. Yup I'm still on that! Between working, school, and loving on my hubby there doesn't seem to be more then a couple hours a week that I can spend on some free time crafting. I wanted to share this quote though that I found to be very empowering
One thing that my Mom has always told me seen I was little was that I was very creative and that I needed to use my talent. Well, after years of "failure" with instruments, painting and drawing, and singing I was beginning to think that maybe my Mom tuned into the wrong "mother frequency" for me that day. Since getting married I'm spent a lot of time and effort on making our little home one that we love to be in. Well when I read this quote the other day it really hit me. I have talents!“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Nelson Mandela
Yea I'm kind of a dork but who am I NOT to GET MY CRAFTY ON?! Sitting around and not utilizing this thrifty little mind of mine helps no own. So I share my ideas to inspire others to get THEIR crafty on. Yes, it's simple and to be honest I'd say I'm pretty simple myself. I don't need a lot in life to make me happy. Falling asleep holding my husbands hand, cuddling a little baby, feeling close to my Heavenly Father, and seeing my hard work when a project is done, these are the things that bring me the most happiness. And I wouldn't change that for the world.
Stepping off my soap....this is what I have been up to!
- Dollar Store Wreath
- Spray Paint
- Wooden Letter
- Scrapbook Paper
- Modge Podge
- Fabric Scraps
- Spray paint wreath and letters. Do at least 2 coats of spray paint because it will be outside. You don't want all your hard work ruined by unpredictable weather!
2. Use a piece of paper to make a template for your scrapbook paper by tracing it over the wooden letter. Find some cute scrapbook paper and VOILA! It's modge podge wonderful!
3. Embellish! I attached my wooden letter by getting a thick piece of ribbon cutting it in two and then hot gluing it to the back of the letter and wrapping them around the wreath. Add some cute rosettes and your done!
